Marshall made leaps in two polls released Monday. The Rams entered the Southwest National Prep Poll at No. 9 and moved up two places to No. 6 in the Associated Press state Class 5A poll. The Rams defeated Lee, 42-6, Friday to raise their record to 4-0.

Bastrop remained atop the 4A poll after raising its record to 4-0 by defeating Austin Johnson, 20-7, Friday.
Cuero also kept its top ranking in the 3A poll after beating LaGrange 27-7. Sinton regained the No. 2 spot in the 3A poll after dropping to No. 3 last week. Schulenberg remains No. 1 in the 2A poll, picking up 266 points. Karnes City enters the poll at No. 9 after raising its record to 4-0.

Region IV schools Thorndale (No. 2), Bartlett (No. 9) and Calvert (No. 10) are all ranked in the AP poll.

STAT LEADERS: Glenn Winship of Alamo Heights and Anthony Holmes of Marshall continue to lead the city offensively.

Winship passed for 307 yards in the Mules’ 50-7 drubbing of Edgewood to increase his season total to 1,507 yards in just four games.

Winship also continues to lead the area in total offense, averaging 414 yards per game.

Holmes continues to lead the area in rushing. The senior tailback has 822 yards on 72 attempts this season.

Holmes also leads the area in scoring, rushing for 14 touchdowns for 84 points.

Chris Marcinowski of Central Catholic holds the lead in receptions with 26 on the season.
